Immigrant Youth Advocates (IYA)

The mission of this new group for first and second generation immigrant teens (formerly West Hartford Immigrant Teens) is to advocate for and welcome immigrants and refugees around the greater Hartford area, and across the United States.

Who Are We?

WHIT is a peer to peer group focusing on socializing, community service, and advocacy with members in grades 8-12. We are a partnership between Golden Door Hartford and the West Hartford Libraries.

How Can I Join?

There are several ways you can join WHIT. You can contact us directly by emailing goldendoorhartford@gmail.com or you can show up to one of our meetings. You can see our meeting schedule on the WHIT Instagram @whit22.

Can I Join?

If you are a teen immigrant in grades 8-12 we would love to have you! You don’t need to be in West Hartford to join; we want teens in our group from all over Connecticut!

Where Do You Usually Meet?

We usually meet at Faxon Branch Library in West Hartford. Sometimes we like to meet at some of the other libraries in town, or some of the local parks during the summer!
